Doris E. Smith, age82, of Muncie, passed away Tuesday, October 11th,2022 at I U Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born August 30th,1940 in Narvel , Ky. and was the daughter of the late Mannon Hewel Kempton and Eva Marie (Marcum) Kempton.

Doris attended school in Clinton County ,Ky. and in addition to being a homemaker most of her life, she had various jobs before starting her family, including working as a cook at the small town jail ,a seam- stress for a garment factory, and later was a machine operator for Borg-Warner in Muncie.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Herlon Smith; two daughters, Carolyn (husband-David) Young of Muncie  and Kathy (husband- Dean) Jones of Springport ; grandchildren including, Megan Wilson (Tyler Lindsey) Brock Smith ( Amanda Craycraft -fiance') all of Muncie, Keegan Jones of Springport; several great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois A. Wilson; 3 brothers, Donald, Delmar, and Mack Kempton:  a brother-in-law, and Parent in-laws.

A Celebration of Life services will be held 1:00 pm on Monday, October 17th,2022 at the Parson Mortuary, located 801 W. Adams St. Muncie with Pastor John Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00-1:00pm at the mortuary
