Fern W. Hart-Ellison, 87, of Muncie, Indiana, finished her life's journey on August 4, 2026, at The Woodlands Nursing Home in Muncie.  She was born on April 14, 1939, in Somerset, Kentucky, to Robert and Bessie Patterson.

Fern enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with family.  Following graduation from high school, she became a homemaker.  She was married to her first husband, Ray Hart, for thirty years, and her second husband, Charles Ellison, for twenty-two years.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hart, a sister, Ina June Waters (Robert), and a brother, Ray E. Patterson (June).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bessie Patterson; her husbands, Ray Hart and Charles Ellison; her siblings, Mary E. Patterson, Donald Patterson (Alfreda), May Sue Patterson Shadoan (George), and Glen E. Patterson.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM CST at Salem Cemetery, near Russel Springs, Kentucky.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery.
