Goldman Delon (Goldie) Waters 79, departed this life on December 26th, 2022, and moved to the eternal home that he had sung about for years. He was born at home in Barthell, Kentucky on March 26, 1943, to Goldman and Ethel (Tapley) Waters. He moved to Muncie as a child where he resided there most of his life. He worked at General Motors Chevrolet Division in Muncie until retiring in 1993. He also was a volunteer fireman for Cowan in the late 60s early 70s. He was an active member of West Side United Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana. He was active in many roles at the Church, from leading the choir to playing guitar and helping out with the upkeep and maintenance of the Church. He also traveled and sang with The Lifeboat Quartet for over 40 years. During this time they also had a radio broadcast on WERK Radio every Sunday morning. He was a member of Whitney Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He was devoted to his Church and his family. Always glad to tell someone about his faith. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and faithful friend to all who knew him. His smile and laughter will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Geneva Gregory Waters, children Robert Waters (companion Tracy), Denise New (husband Carl), Darlena Rogers (companion Jack) all of Muncie, Indiana, and Bruce (wife Angel) Waters of Daleville, Indiana, Tonya (husband Matt) Bastin and Barnnie (wife Amy) Woody of Muncie, Indiana. Brothers Robert (June) Waters and Larry (Dedra) Waters of Muncie, Indiana, and Dwayne (Julie) Waters of Selma, Indiana. Sisters Phyllis Winningham, Janice (Bill) Thornbro of Muncie, Indiana, and Irene (Terry) Legg of Peru, Indiana. Sister-in-law Nila Waters of Gaston, Indiana, and Brother-in-law Harvey Smith of Daleville, Indiana, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Goldman and Ethel Waters, Brother Tommy Waters, sister Trula Smith, brother-in law James Winningham, two son-in-laws Bruce Rogers and Brian Smith, and a granddaughter Sharlena New. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Westside United Baptist Church 3021 W. Cornbread Rd. Muncie, IN 47302. Masonic Rites will take place at 12:30 P.M. and funeral services will start at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Larry Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Westside United Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to West Side United Baptist Church.
