On November 16th, 2025, the world got a little quieter, the highway got a little lonelier, and heaven got one of its loudest Harley pipes yet, as Jack Hyso, age 71, popped the clutch and rode off into eternity. He arrived on the earth with a wink, a laugh, and, according to reliable sources, a natural talent for making the ladies blush.

A proud Harley-Davidson enthusiast, he considered the wind his therapist and the open road his sanctuary. But long before he ever turned the key to ignition, Jack found his first true love, drums. A lifelong drummer with rhythm in his bones, he could turn any surface into a drum set and any movement into a jam session. He taught many drummers over the years, sharing not only technique but also his love of drumming. If you have ever tapped your fingers on the dashboard because of him, congratulations, you are now part of his band.

Jack was a lifelong member of Glad Tidings Church, where he worshipped and played drums for many years, lifting praise with every beat. He retired from a long and dedicated career as a tool and die maker at Delaware Machinery in Muncie, IN, where his skills were deeply respected.

Jack is survived by his children: Lori (Ron) Stephenson, Mindy (Aaron) Piercy, Jack (Deb) Hyso Jr., Donnie Hyso, and Jackie Spradlin. His siblings: Debbie (Gary) Smith, Kevin Ruddick (Richard Francis), Tim Ruddick, Donnie (Stephanie) Ruddick, Dana (David) Wyatt, Carrie Chambers, along with several nieces and nephews.

Carrying on his legacy of adventure and questionable jokes are his grandchildren: Tyler Stephenson (Eric Saindon), Courtney (Zach) Kallenberger, Drew (Jaycee) Noel, Sam Piercy, Ian McKinley, and Isiah Dobbs.

He was adored by his great-grandchildren: Kaeldis Kallenberger, Jessie and Cyrus Noel, and Conner, Colt, and James Spradlin- Who will forever wonder how someone could make a barking noise that realistic without a dog present. And of course, his loyal companion, Bonzo, the keeper of snacks and secrets.

Welcoming him on the other side are his parents, Donnie Hyso and Patricia (Hartley); his stepdaughter, Laurie Dobbs; his niece, Kimberly Dishman; and his brother, Mike Hyso, who we assume greeted him with a hug and the immediate question, "Did you bring the bike?"

Though his tires may no longer roll across this earth and his sticks may finally be at rest, his stories, his laughter, and his unapologetically wild heart live on. So, in his honor, take a long scenic drive, tap out rhythm on the steering wheel, play classic rock way too loud, and smile at someone who needs it.

Ride on, old timer. We will see you again just over the hill.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 24th, from 4:00–7:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at Parson Mortuary. A funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kyle Holt officiating. Burial service will take place afterward at the Gardens of Memory.
