James VanNatter of Muncie, IN joined his wife in heaven while surrounded by family on December 22, 2022.  James was born July 23, 1934 in Muncie, IN.

James was married to Patricia VanNatter (deceased) May 19, 1953, they were married 67 amazing and very loving years before her passing in 2021.

James began working as a boy, delivering newspapers, proceeded working for Carl Shores Sr., Delaware Glass, Hartford City Glass and retired with 30 years skilled trades at Delco Remy of Anderson.  He had also farmed.

James was a past member of the Elks, Muncie Moose and lifetime member with the Shriners and Scottish Rite.  He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge 606, Eastern Star and Amvets.  He was recognized as a 32 degree member of Masonic Lodge through Indianapolis.  James attended Mount Olive (Methodist) Community Church for 66 years.

He was a man that mentored and helped anyone in his family and community who needed it.  He was never boastful of bragged.  His love for others was shown through his stewardship and mentorship.  For decades, if a neighbor or family member needed help, he was there.  His dedication and love to his family and friends were unsurpassed by anyone else.  There were many baptisms in their pond.

He not only helped, but was always ready with a good story or ready for a good laugh.  Pat and Jim were very unique and special.  Their love, influence and memory will continue through each of the lives they touched.

James was preceded in death by his other half, loving wife Patricia VanNatter, parents Cecil and Katie VanNatter, three brothers; Gene (wife Vivian), Jack (wife Pat) and Dick VanNatter, three sisters; Marge Brady, Marilyn Montross and Wilma Houching, Grandson Steve Brasher Jr.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Gayla Brasher (Muncie) and son James Robert VanNatter Jr. (wife Gretchen) Laughlin, NV.  Grandchildren; Wendy Knotts (husband Andy) of Muncie, Nicole Schreiner (husband Bob) of Colorado Springs, CO, Tricia Bender (husband Jeremy) of Franklin, TN, Tonya Brasher of Anderson, IN, and Jason VanNatter (wife Jennifer) of MO.  Eight Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews,  A special nephew Shane Skinner of Muncie, IN.

Special thanks to the many loving and compassionate friends that showed support and kindness, especially these last few years.  Services will be officiated by Pastor Rodney Eiler at Parson Mortuary on Thursday, December 29, 2022.  Calling hours are 11am-1pm with funeral services following.  Requesting memorial to be sent to Mt. Olive Community Church, Muncie.
