James W. Washam  Jr., age 79,of Muncie passed away Sunday afternoon, August 14th,2022At the IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie following an extended illness.

He was born February 22nd, 1943 in Knoxville, Tn. and was the son of the late James W. Washam Sr. and Nell Elizabeth (Suttle) King.

James was a graduate of Rule High School in Knoxville, Tn., and was a U.S. Army Veteran . He served as a chef and bartender at the Workmen's Bar on 8th st.  for over 20 years. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie Lodge and was a life member of Am Vets.

He is survived by his Wife; Marlene Washam; Step-son: Joseph (wife-Shirley) Carnes of Muncie; Step-daughter, Teresa Covington (husband-Mitchell) of Anderson; Brother, Robert Lee (wife-Carolyn) Washam of Knoxville, Tn.; Twin Sisters, Wanda Brown and Vonda (husband- Herb) Collins both of Knoxville, Tn.; Eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife; Donna (Brown) Washam in 2000, and a daughter Melissa Steel; Step-Son, Jack Carnes.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19th,2022, 2:00 PM at the Parson Mortuary in Muncie with Pastor Larry Waters officiating. Burial will follow at the Beech Grove Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Delaware County Honor Guard, Friends may call Friday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Mortuary.
