Janie L. Gunter, 73, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, following an extended illness surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on July 23, 1949, in Muncie, IN the daughter of Lester and Ethel (White) Ridge. Janie graduated from Southside High School in 1967 and later married the love of her life, Bobby Gunter, on September 8, 1968, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2019. She owned and operated B&J used furniture with her husband for 25 years, formerly named R&W Auction House owned by her parents. Mrs. Gunter enjoyed going to Auctions, festivals, flea markets, bird watching, fishing, Hallmark movies, and going for rides with her dog Chase (Baby Boy). She mostly loved spending time with her family and best friend of 62 years, Shirley Bingham. Janie donated to several charities and organizations. Survivors include one daughter, Christina Rose (Greg Messer, Fiancé), Muncie; one grandson, Nathan Rose, Yorktown; one sister, Della Cross, Yorktown; two brothers, Wilbur Ridge, Blountsville, and Michael Ridge (Sharon), Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband of 50 years, Bobby, she is preceded by her parents, two grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Marker, and one brother, Rodney Ridge. Private family viewing will take place at the Parson Mortuary Cremation Center, located directly across the street from Parson Mortuary (location address: 800 W. Adams St.) with an open graveside service to follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery on Tuesday, December 27th at 2 pm for family and friends.
