JoEllen Blevins, 75, passed away peacefully in her New Castle, Indiana, home on August 15, 2026.  JoEllen was born in West Virginia, the daughter of Cecil and Angela "Liz" Barnhouse.

As a child, her family moved to Muncie, and JoEllen graduated from Muncie Central in 1969.  She met and married the absolute love of her life, Ovia "Butch" Blevins, and they were married for 50 years before his passing on August 31, 2019.

JoEllen was a loving woman who took great pride and joy in caring for her family.  She enjoyed watching game shows, playing board games, and euchre. She also enjoyed doing word searches and spending time on her front porch or watching the Indiana Colts play football.  Her greatest love was her family; she cherished the time she spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, JoEllen Blevins (George France), Brian Lee Blevins Sr., her grandchildren, Brian Blevins (Heather), Blake Lewis, Austin Blevins, Steven Blevins, Raven Garcia, Alexis Blevins, Jordan Blevins, Bryce Blevins, Brianna Blevins, and Zarah Blevins, and several great-grandchildren.   In addition, she leaves behind two brothers, Cecil Barnhouse and Bob Barnhouse.

JoEllen was preceded in death by her husband, Ovia "Butch" Blevins, her parents, Cecil and Liz Barnhouse, and siblings, William Barnhouse and Anna Shockley.

Funeral services will be at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM.  Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Tomlinson Cemetery following the service.
