John Feistritzer (85) of Selma, Indiana, died unexpectedly on August 8, 2026. He was born on December 10, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Frank and Pauline (Kress) Feistritzer. He grew up in Muncie and Selma, Indiana. He was a graduate of Selma High School and Purdue University. He attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Muncie. He loved farming and drag racing, and he was proud of his 67 consecutive year streak racing the Hoosier Hurricane at Muncie Dragway. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and for being a mechanical genius who could fix or create anything he needed.

He married Judy Buckles on September 15, 1962, and they were happily married for 63 years. He is survived by his wife Judy, his sisters Nancy (Sid) Rust of Indianapolis, Jane (Bob) Dager of Kirksville, Missouri, Francie Feistritzer of Farmland, and Katie (Bruce) Smith of Washington, Indiana, and his children Debbie (Ken) Edwards of Athens, Ohio, Janice (Bill) Thompson of Selma, Mike (Ileana) Feistritzer of York, Pennsylvania, and Jim (Julie) Feistritzer of Selma; his grandchildren Ellen Edwards, Rachel (Josh) King, Nick (Kayla and daughter Sadie) and Zack (Gabby) Thompson, Alexander, Catalina, and Daniella Feistritzer, Samantha, Andrew (Courtney and daughter Emerie), and Jacob Feistritzer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Muncie. Friends may call at St. Francis from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
