Joseph W. Hartley, 86, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, in Selma, Indiana surrounded by his family.  Joseph was born on December 9, 1936 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Donald and Opal Hartley.

Joseph attended Muncie Central High School and worked at Borg Warner until he retired in 2002.  Joseph was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 59 years, Geneva Hartley.  Joseph enjoyed woodworking, pinewood derby cars, traveling the world, and spending time with his family.

Joseph is survived by three daughters Kathy Dampier, Muncie, Kendra Plank (husband Bob), Selma, and Kristy Shea (husband Miles), Virginia; two sisters Bonita Posey (husband Arvel Posey Jr) and Janet Reffit (husband Vernon); grandchildren, Alisha Kreider (Kyle), Joshua Dampier, Tara Dampier, Victoria Green (Nicholas), Alex McDonalds (Sean), Chad Plank (Ashley), Jason Hartley, Ashlea Hartley (Cory), BJ Norris (Mellissa), and Amy Cox (Brandon); several great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a special nephew, James Hedges.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Opal Hartley; spouse, Geneva Hartley; son, Scott Hartley; brothers Robert and Gene; three sisters Pat, Ruby, and Suzy; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Dampier.

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 12:30 PM, with a visitation to take place from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.
