Larry J. Burke, born September 8, 1955, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Larry spent most of his life in Muncie, Indiana, where he attended Muncie Community Schools and built a reputation as one of the area's most talented welders. Many who knew him professionally would say there wasn't anything Larry couldn't weld. His skill, dedication, and strong work ethic defined a career that spanned many years in the welding trade and earned him the respect of coworkers and friends alike.

Outside of work, Larry embraced life with a sense of adventure. He loved riding motorcycles, trail riding on horseback, and spending time in the mountains of Tennessee. Whether he was exploring a trail, enjoying the beauty of nature, or planning his next trip to the mountains, Larry found joy in the outdoors and the freedom it offered. As the years passed, one of Larry's greatest joys became being a grandfather. He cherished time spent with his family and especially loved playing with his grandchildren and watching them grow. His family was the center of his world, and the memories he created with them will be treasured forever.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Brown; his sister, Connie Morris; and his daughter, Laura Roberts. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Susan Burke; his daughter, Melissa VanderWeide (John); his brother, Gary Brown (Theresa); his sister, Kathy Parker (Roger); and his brother, Jerry Brown.

He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Matthew Baker, Kelsie Nichols, Kaylie Nichols, Peyton VanderWeide and Jordan Ferguson; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Alayah Foster, Xy'elle Pegues, and Kyzen Nichols. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Larry will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his remarkable talent as a welder, his love of adventure, and, above all, his devotion to his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.

Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
