Letha S. Chalfant, 74, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday June 29, 2022 at the Bethel Point Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.  She was born on June 15, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana the daughter of Raymond York and Archie Nell (Marcum) York-Heskett.

Letha graduated from Chrysler High School in New Castle in 1966 and later married Larry Joe Reffett who preceded her in death in 1985.

Mrs. Chalfant had worked for several places throughout Indiana, most recently, Argosy Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana as a Shift Manager.  Mrs. Chalfant enjoyed meeting with former high school classmates once a month, working puzzle books, traveling, especially to family reunions and creating memories with her family and friends.  She was a member of the First Community Baptist Church of Redkey.

She is survived by one son, Scott Melton (Kayla), Muncie; two step children, Mike Reffett and Lori Wendel (Eric) both of Portland; six grandchildren, Dustin Melton, Branden Dishman (fiancé'-Alisha Dickison), Jacob Dishman, Joe Ashley (Cami), Anissa Renner and Natasha Renner; six great grandchildren, Jaycee, Alaina, Kynsleigh Dishman, Phoenix, Odin and Presley Ashley; two brothers, Joe York, and John York; one sister, Anna Stocker.

Besides her husband of 14 years, Larry, she was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Charlene Nelson in 1995.

A memorial service will be held at the First Community Baptist Church located at 341 N. Meridian St. Redkey, Indiana 47373 on Saturday July 2, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Everett Bilbrey officiating.
