Lucille C. Kanney, 100, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 28, 2022, at the Westminster Village Health Care Center following an extended illness.  She was born on November 09, 1921 in Rensselaer, Indiana the daughter of Charles and Anna (Schroeder) Claussen.

Lucille graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1939 and later graduated from Purdue Business School.  Eventually she married the love of her life James Kanney in 1959 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 2019.    Mrs. Kanney became a homemaker and enjoyed reading, playing card games, especially euchre, playing tri-ominos and cooking.  Lucille was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Carlin (David), Edwardsburg, Michigan, Mary Meadows, Muncie and Jody Gibbs (Marc), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband of 60 years, James, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ray Claussen and Charles Claussen, Jr.; one sister, Mildred Riehle; one son-in-law, Clarence Meadows.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Lucille on Saturday September 17, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. Eric Underwood officiating.  Burial of cremated remains of both Lucille and James will take place at the Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer, Indiana at a later date.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.
