Mary J. Hirst, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Monday morning, July 25, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center.   She was born on July 17, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky the daughter of Paul Martin and Cora Iva (Clark) Mann.

Mary married the love of her life, Jerry E. Hirst on August 9, 1958 in Terre Haute, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 2021.    Mrs. Hirst was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Mt. Summit.  She enjoyed bowling and playing games like Euchre and Aggravation.    To say Mary's greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother would be an understatement!

Survivors include her children, Jeff Hirst, Hawaii, Nancy Lawrence (Chris), Springport, Sally McCullers (Rob), Bloomington, Illinois, Russell Edward Hirst (Cindy), New Castle and Benjamin Hirst, Littleton, Colorado; fifteen grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Melanie, Jacob, Jared, Abigail, Mary Gracie, Samuel, Katrina, Justin, Hannah, Cora, Jacob, and Derrick; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil Mann, Terri Haute and Charles Mann (Alice), Anderson, South Carolina; one sister, Jeanette Wagner (Dave), Decatur, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband of 62 ½ years, Jerry, she is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heather; one great granddaughter, Makayla; 2 great grandsons, Gabe and Max; one daughter-in-law, Cathy Hirst; four brothers; two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 30, 2022 at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 P.M. with Brother Brian Ballenger officiating.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Summit Cemetery in Mt. Summit, Indiana.

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Saturday July 30, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M.
