Mary Frances (Doyle) Swanger died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 98. She

was born March 6, 1925, in Muncie, daughter of Earl and Anna (Kern) Doyle.

She was a 1943 graduate of Muncie Central High School, a lifelong member of High Street UMC, a member of Delta Theta Tau sorority, and a volunteer at Minnetrista Cultural Center.

Mary was happily married for 62 years to her husband, Bill Swanger, who died in 2009. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor. She could frequently be seen walking around her neighborhood, enjoyed working in her gardens, and was a regular participant in a Zoom exercise program, A.G.E. with Fran. She was an incredibly welcoming and hospitable person. Her door and table were always open.

Survivors include son Steve Swanger (Linda); daughters Sally Callahan (Greg), Susan Handy (Mark), and Marcia Wilson (Mike); grandchildren Stacy Morton, Scott Swanger (Blythe), Anna Handy (Joe Richardville), and Ben Handy; great-grandchildren William Morton and James Swanger; five step-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 8 at High Street UMC. The Rev. Teri Crouse will officiate. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 - 1:00 at the church before the service.
