Rachel L. Sparks, 99, of Muncie, IN passed away at Bethel Pointe with loving family by her side on Sunday, September 24, 2023. She was born on August 20, 1924, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Frank A. and Sarah E. (McCoy) Walters.

She retired from Ball Corporation, Muncie Closure Plant, on September 4, 1987.

She loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, a person of strong faith, and a prayer warrior. She was active with Calebs Kin (GBC).

Rachel is survived by her husband Noel B. Sparks; her daughter, Mary Rose (Bob) of Anderson; two sons, Pat McAlister (Risa Jones) of Mt. Summit, and Mike McAlister (Michele) of Mt. Summit; four grandchildren, Jerry Greer (Monica) of Noblesville, Trisha Newton (Shane) of Black Mountain, NC, Leah McAlister (Trevor) of Mt. Summit, and Alli Sanusi (Tosin) of Indianapolis; 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, two stepchildren, Nola Sargent (Bob) of Albany and Ray Sparks (Christine) of Sun City, Fl. and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands W. Allphin McAlister and Fred Burke; two brothers, Ishmael and Delbert Walters and two sisters, Norma Stellwag and Dorothy McKelvey; step-grandson, Joseph Ray Sparks and step-great-grandson, Erik Sparks.

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Friday, September 29, 2023, visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. The Internment will be held at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church, 3021 W Cornbread Road, Muncie, IN 47302.
