Robert Barney, Sr., 84, passed away Friday afternoon, July 15, 2022, at his residence following a brief illness.  He was born on July 24, 1937, in Chicago, IL, the son of Robert and Ethel (Takkunen) Barney.

Robert graduated from High School in 1955 and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served honorably during 1960-1963 after graduating from Denison University and going off to Officer school. He married the love of his life Barrie on November 24, 1962, in Pennsylvania and she preceded him in death. Robert enjoyed golfing, the Cubs, and going to Red Lobster with family.

Survivors include one son, Robert Barney, Jr. (Michelle), one daughter, Barbara Paschal (Mark), one brother Roger Barney, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 59 years, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ross Barney.

Cremation is being done with a private family gathering at a later date.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.
