Shirley M. Reese, age 88, of Muncie passed away Wednesday morning, September 21, 2022, from natural causes at her residence. She was born October 24, 1933, in Orange County, Ind. She was the daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Mable Fay (Patton) Beaty.

A homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed swimming, painting, ceramics, award-winning/published poetry, dancing both square and line, camping, and hiking through woods, and she was well known for her Letters to the Editor of the Muncie Star.

Shirley is survived by Melanie (husband-Michael) Smith of Carmel, In., Michael (wife-Peggy) Reese of Tennessee, Melinda Stanley of Albany, In., Mark Reese of Martinsville, and Melissa (husband-Brian) Manship of Selma, In. She has 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband- Carlos D. Reese in 2015; a daughter Mary Reese; granddaughter, Stephanie Reese; grandson Lance Thompson and one brother, Charles Beaty Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams St. Muncie. Pastor Jim Ballenger will be officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
