Thomas F. Tighe Jr, 78, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at his home in Desoto, Indiana.  He was born in Muncie on June 17, 1948, the son of Thomas F. Sr. and Hilda (Jones) Tighe.

He graduated from Southside High School and, in his words, "married the love of his life, Sally Jo Mansker."  They were married for 58 years before his passing.  Tom worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 40 years and, after retiring, kept his passion for music, hunting, and fishing.  He was a proud Mason and Shriner.

A lot of his time was spent helping his wife in her entrepreneurial ventures, while shaking his head.  They owned Sally's Ice Cream, Mt. Pleasant Campground, Starlight Motel, Caboose Ice Cream, and Bert T. Owens Ice Cream Shop.

Tom especially enjoyed being with family and playing euchre with his special friends.  He will be forever loved, forever missed, and always remembered.  He was the definition of "a good man."

He is survived by his wife, Sally Tighe; his three sons, Thomas (Melissa), Jason, and Kevin (Lori) Tighe; and eight grandchildren, Kyla Jo Norris, Jordan Tighe, Conner Tighe, Hailey Tighe (Josh), Kailey Tighe (Cole), Jama Tighe, Blaine Tighe (Amiah), and Carson Tighe.  In addition, he leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Jupiter, Lilly, and Rory Jo; a brother, Jack Tighe (Bonnie); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Patricia and Brenda.

A celebration of life will be held on October 17, 2026, at his home, 6109 N CR 500 E, Muncie, Indiana, at 5:00 PM.  A bonfire and food will be provided; please bring a chair.
