Tracy Lee Smart, 60, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Tracy lost his long-fought battle with many health issues.

He attended Wes-Del H.S. graduating in 1981 with a passion for photography and racing. He became an EMT and served on the Gaston Volunteer Fire Dept. Tracy lived life to the fullest making a career out of doing what he loved. He worked for Diamond P, TNT Motorsports, retiring from Hogan, never steering from his passion for racing, and excited to be back racing his S-10s at the Muncie Dragway.

You would always find him snapping away in the winner's circle and occasionally officiating. Tracy's careers in trucking and racing took him all over the country, capturing it all along the way, including writing for many sports magazines. Hot rod mini-tractors, remote control cars, slot cars, sprint cars, monster trucks drag racing, he loved it all. Tracy loved his family, and racing family, and never knew a stranger. He will be remembered for his stories and humor.

Tracy is preceded in death by his stepfather Kenneth Nichols.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Nichols, sister Teresa Hall (Paul), nieces; Stacy Walker (Jerry), Christina Wilson (Nate), Kathryn Hall (Andrew), 4 great nephews, 2 great nieces, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life is planned for April 22nd, 2023, at the Gaston Lions Club at 11:00 am.
