Verna Kay Hillery, 75, of Muncie, Indiana passed away September 9, 2023, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on July 19, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana to Charles and Lavina (Reynolds) Jackson.

Verna graduated from Yorktown High School, she then retired from Ball State University after 25 years. She really enjoyed family and spending time with her grandkids.

Verna is survived by her husband of 55 years, Loyd Hillery whom she met at the Strand Theatre in Muncie, her son Jeffery L. Hillery (Michele), siblings; Dave Jackson, Marilyn Cheatham (Wayne), and Beverly Stewart (Jim), grandchildren; Andrew Hopwood (Bailey), and Alex Hillery, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Bob Jackson, TX.

Funeral services will be at Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. with Rodney Eiler officiating. Visitation begins at 12:00 p.m. until service time. The interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
