MUNCIE – Austin R. Futrell, 28, left this life after many health struggles with his family by his side at

Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born and raised in Muncie by his father

Richard “Rick” Allen and Kimberly “Kim” A. (Whalen) Futrell.

Austin graduated from Burris Laboratory High School in 2014. He later married the love of his life

Kimberly E. (Deilkes) Futrell on September 14, 2019, in Muncie. Austin had worked in food service

for several restaurants in the area as a cook and management.

Austin was known for his love of snakes. He loved being around animals and never met one that didn’t

like him. His dream was to work in nature or a zoo. He was in his element outdoors and was always up

for an adventure (if it didn’t involve heights).

Austin is survived by his wife, Kimberly, one son, Onyx, and a stepson, Ash Smith. He is also survived by

his parents, Rick and Kim Futrell, Muncie; maternal grandmother, Pamela Whalen, Muncie; paternal

grandmother, Lana Futrell, Eaton; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Theodora Rose Futrell, and maternal grandfather, James Whalen, and paternal grandfather, Fred Futrell.

A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 2 pm – 4 pm

with a brief service following at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 W. White River Blvd, Muncie, IN

47303.  Pastor Jerry O’Neal will be officiating.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with the

cremation services only.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used for future expenses for his son, Onyx.
