Barbara Lee Paskins, 96, passed away on March 23, 2026, at Brickyard Nursing Home, Muncie.

The daughter of Carl V. and Dora Stein, she was born in Muncie on March 16, 1930. 

Barbara grew up in Muncie, living at 415 S. Elm Street, near the downtown YWCA.  She and family members would walk to the movies at the Rivoli Theater or eat at downtown restaurants.  Her dad owned a bakery and the Hamburger Inn across from the old courthouse.  She attended Muncie Central and worked at Ball Stores in the cafeteria.  She ultimately retired from Muncie Central High School, where she worked in the cafeteria.

She had great artistic abilities and painted a square in the nativity scene on the windows of McKinley Jr. High School.  With her talent, she really should have been an artist.  When younger, Barbara also played the accordion with her sister, Janet, for several parties and get-togethers in Muncie.

Barbara attended Wilmore United Methodist Church at the corner of 9th and Batavia.  She was very involved in the church, helping with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  She was also known for her pies and cakes, which she made and donated to the church for the many chili suppers and chicken and noodle dinners.  Barbara also enjoyed making crafts for the church bazaars.

Her baking skills went beyond the church and family.  She had several people order pies and cakes from her over the years, even doing a few wedding cakes.  People were known to say that her cakes and pies were the greatest!

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Angie Staggs, Muncie, and one son, Tim Paskins (Janet), Florida, and granddaughters, Krista Julian, Indianapolis, and Karin Staggs, Muncie.  In addition, she leaves behind great-grandchildren, Jay Staggs, Jorden Corbin, Ian Julian, Gabby Julian, Brayden Julian, and Derrick and Ross Nevins, and two great-great-grandsons, Kaydin Staggs and Kaisen Staggs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Dick) Paskins, son-in-law Mike Staggs, two sisters, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be at Parson Mortuary from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM with a service following.  A private burial will take place at Beech Grove Cemetery following the service.
