Barbara Taylor Obituary

Barbara Helen (Lambert) Taylor, a long-time Muncie resident, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025.


Barbara was born in Algoma, WV, on November 17, 1941, the daughter of Clyde Ray and Sally Blanche (Williams) Lambert, who preceded her in death.


Barbara worked for several years prior to her retirement. Her positions included one year in the advertising department of U.S. News & World Report magazine in Washington, DC; two years in Bracken Library at Ball State University; thirty-seven years in various office positions at Muncie Transit Supply aka Muncie Reclamation and Supply Co., four years as the First Deputy in the Delaware County Recorder’s office and and five years as Deputy Director of the City of Muncie’s Community Development Department.


Barbara was a very active bowler for many years, and traveled throughout the country with her bowling friends to participate in tournaments. She was a member of the Board and served one term as president of the Delaware County Women’s Bowling Association. The Association hosted the state bowling tournament during this time and brought many visitors to our city. A strong supporter of the Republican Party, she served several years as treasurer of the Delaware County Republican Women’s Club and volunteered many hours at Delaware County Republican Headquarters recruiting poll workers, helping do mailings for candidates, and keeping the office open for the public. Barbara cherished the friendships she developed through the many hours she volunteered for these organizations.


Barbara cherished her family, which included the many members of her extended family. She is survived by Gregory Taylor (Kathy) of Mooresville, IN and Sarasota, FL, and grandson, Chase Taylor (Brandi) of Lake Placid, FL; granddaughter Avery Taylor, and Madison Taylor, great granddaughter, Braylee Taylor; a brother, Harold Joseph Lambert and sister-in-law Rosie of Chilhowie, VA; sister-in-law Carol Lambert of Princeton, WV, and Beverly Taylor of Muncie, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; great, great nieces and nephews, and great, great, great nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.


Besides her parents, also preceding her in death her husband, Robert "Twiggs" Taylor, three brothers: Clyde Ray Lambert Jr.; Roger Earl Lambert; Scotty Russell Lambert; two sisters: Gladys Gray (Lambert) Bell and Nancy Ruth (Lambert) McClelland, four sisters-in-law: Judy (Rotenberry) Lambert, Susan (Taylor) Kershner, Agnes (Buckland) Lambert and Pearl Lambert; three brothers-in-law, John McClelland, Robert Bell, and Gary Taylor; beloved nephews: Dwight Lambert, Gary Lambert, Terry Lambert, Jason Lambert, Kenneth McLean, Michael McLean, Jay Bell, Tom Lambert, Barry Lambert: great nephews Caleb McClelland, Zachary Bell, Eric Lambert, and great niece, Darla Watkins.


There will be a public graveside service at Gardens of Memory Cemetery held on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.
