Muncie-Betty L. Stewart, 87, passed away Wednesday morning at the emergency room of the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born on, September 24, 1930, in Muncie the daughter of Golie and Maude (Childs) Rawlins. Betty had been the first caesarian section delivered at Ball Memorial Hospital done by Dr. Ball.
Betty is a 1948 graduate of Muncie Central High School and later married the love of her life Thomas F. Stewart on February 11, 1953 in Yorktown and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2014. Mrs. Stewart had worked for the Yorktown Middle School in the cafeteria for 10 years. She was known to be a very versatile musician playing both the piano and the organ. She has played the piano since she was 3 years old and was gifted with a natural sense of pitch. Mrs. Stewart enjoyed playing for the residence of the Westminster Village as well as the Yorktown Christian church where she also sang. Betty enjoyed the times she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren and also her pet dog of 16 years, Princess.
Survivors include one son, Thomas L. Stewart, Sr. (wife-Karen), Yorktown; two grandsons, Thomas L. Stewart, Jr. (wife-Paula), Pendleton and Kevin L. Stewart (wife-Julie), Noblesville; four great grandchildren, Kaylee Stewart, Chase Stewart, Norah Stewart and Gavin Stewart.
Besides her husband of 61 years, Thomas, she is preceded in death by one son, Paul Taylor Stewart in 1989; her parents; one uncle, Will Childs.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 1; 00 p.m. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Jeffery Castetter officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, from 12:00 P.M. until service time.
