Bonnie Jean (Cowan) Mauro Obituary

Bonnie Jean Mauro, 67, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2025, in Muncie, Indiana.  She was born on July 2, 1958, in Muncie, the daughter of Benjamin and Phyliss Aranda.

Following graduation from Muncie Central High School, Bonnie worked at various jobs over the years, including managing the Rounders Card Hall.  Bonnie had a passion for playing cards, bingo, shopping, and rummage sales.

The most important thing in her life was her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  She loved to spend time with them, especially at family functions, including barbeques and holidays.  She was well known for her made-from-scratch sugar cream pies and her cobblers.  One son described her as a wonderful “Midwest Cook!”

Bonnie was a fighter, enduring health problems for several years, surviving much longer than the doctors expected.  Her family will miss her, as she was always there for them, always willing to talk with and listen to them.  She was there for nearly every band event, ball game, or any other activity her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were involved in.

Bonnie is survived by her four sons, Matt Mauro (Tara Stevens), Brad Mauro, Nathaniel Mauro (Hannah), and Robert “RJ” Mauro (Kenzie), thirteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  In addition, she leaves behind three sisters, Peggy O’Daffer (Ron), Mary Cowan, and Anna Rust.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ernest, and her siblings, Robert Cowan, Dorothy Martinez, and Betty Wolfe.

Visitation will be held on October 30, 2025, at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana.  Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  There will be no formal service following the visitation.
