Carlos Wayne Gourley Sr., a beloved Husband, Father, Friend, and retired Navy Veteran, passed away on March 28th, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on August 1st, 1958, in Muncie, Indiana, Carlos was the son of Jack and Nila Gourley. 


 Carlos married his loving wife, Eva Gourley, on August 13th, 1977, and they shared 46 beautiful years together. Their love and commitment to each other served as an inspiration to all who knew them. 


Carlos was a true Patriot who took immense pride in serving his country. He dedicated many years of his life to the Navy, where he served with honor and distinction. Carlos's unwavering dedication to his country and his fellow servicemen and women will always be remembered. 


After retiring from the Navy in 1995, Carlos returned to his home state of Indiana. He found work at Albany Metal Treating, Littlers Die Cast, and Indiana Glass (Saint Gobain). Carlos was known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to giving his best in everything he did.  


Carlos is survived by his devoted wife, Eva, and their two sons, Carlos Gourley Jr. wife Amanda and Shaun Gourley. He also leaves behind his father, Jack Mays, his brother Terry Mays and wife Holly, his sister Julie Ann, and his brother Dan Mays and wife Wendy. Carlos's love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he will be deeply missed as a loving husband, father, and son. 


Carlos's grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished them dearly. He is survived by Colten Gourley, Braiden Gourley, Remington Gourley, Jordan Hardesty, Dason Stanton-Gourley, and Hunter Gourley. His love and guidance will forever be remembered by his grandchildren.  


Additionally, Carlos leaves behind his nephews, Nick Mays and wife Shaelyn, and Bryce Mays, along with their children Brendon, Jack, Maelee, and Elijah. Carlos was also a loving uncle to Gavin Gannom and Griffin Gannom, who held a special place in his heart.  


Recently, Carlos became a great grandfather to Kohen Wayne Gourley, who was born on January 23rd, 2024. He was overjoyed to welcome the newest member of the family and leaves behind a legacy of love and family values.  


Carlos Wayne Gourley Sr. will always be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his country, and his commitment to his work. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and strong sense of duty. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace. 


Parson Mortuary Cremation Center has been entrusted with arrangements, and graveside services will be held at a later date at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to your local Veterans Administration, in honor of Carlos's dedication to his country and fellow veterans.
