Carol May Mays, 90, passed away at her Muncie, Indiana residence on January 13, 2025. Carol was born the daughter of Ralph Carl and Julia (Clevenger) Foreman on May 22, 1934, in Muncie, Indiana.
Carol briefly worked outside her home, but the majority of her life was spent caring for, loving and nurturing her family. She had the incredible ability to remember everyone’s birthday, which was no small accomplishment considering at one time she had fifty-three nieces and nephews! To say that she loved her family and friends would be an understatement, her family always looked forward to the calls they received on their birthdays with Carol singing “Happy Birthday” to each one.
Carol was known for several things, including hosting family and friends at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved to carry on conversations with people, enjoyed watching game shows on television, especially Cash Cab and Hollywood Squares. She would meet you at the door and greet you with a hug. Her son Tommy put it best when he said “I will just miss her being here and being my mom.”
Carol is survived by her children Tommy Mays, Diana Gable and Pamela Foltz (Tom), her grandchildren, Norman Sherrow (Lois), Joshua Vance (Charlene), Thomas Foltz, Joseph Foltz (Michelle), Jeremy Foltz, Mindy Miller (Robert), Jonathan Foltz (Stacy), and Quentin Foltz. In addition, she leaves behind twenty-six great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a sister, Wilma Rawlins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Mays Sr., a daughter, Carolyn Mays, her parents, nine brothers, and two sisters.
There will be a brief committal service only, at the north mausoleum at Elm Ridge Cemetery on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM. There will be no calling hours or formal funeral service.
