Carolyn Slater Obituary

Carolyn Kay Slater, 81, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, at her residence in Noblesville with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 15, 1944, in Muncie, Indiana, to Norman and Mary (Ream) Beckner.

Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of Cowan High School. She worked as a dedicated marketing director for 28 years in assisted living and nursing home facilities. Carolyn lived life with passion and style. She loved shopping, especially on Amazon, at TJ Maxx, and sporting goods stores, and was known for her sharp fashion sense and her iconic convertible cars, including a green Mustang and a white Spyder. She had a lifelong love of college sports, cheering loudly for IU basketball and football, and enjoyed relaxing with her favorite soap operas, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.

A talented cook, Carolyn showed her love through food. Her homemade mac and cheese and beef and noodles were legendary among family and friends. She always made sure her guests were well-fed and felt at home. She also had a sweet tooth and enjoyed supporting local businesses, especially those that catered to her love of custom-made jewelry.

Family meant everything to Carolyn. She was deeply devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her love for them was unwavering.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Colpitts (Rich); her son, Kent Nottingham (Bethany); her grandchildren, Kyle Nottingham and Erin Gaskin (Erik); and great-grandchildren, Jolie Nottingham and Spencer Gaskin.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy Botkin.
