Catherine Sulynn Rigney, 62, went to her heavenly home early Monday Morning, December 18, 2023, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  She was born on, January 2, 1961, in Lancaster, Ohio the daughter of Darius and Ruth (Kuhn) Shaw.

Catherine graduated from Nelsonville-York High School in 1979 and later graduated from Hawking College with an Associate of Science Degree in the Nursing program.  Catherine married the love of her life, Michael Rigney on February 4, 2012, in Logan, Ohio and he survives.  Mrs. Rigney became a nurse for the Ohio Health Network and served them for 28 years as a critical care nurse before her retirement in 2012.  She was a member of the Praise Team of the Shepherd of Hills Church in Logan, Ohio.

Besides her husband of 11 years, Michael, she is survived by four children, Christopher Holtel (Carolina), Greenville, South Carolina, Shasta Brown, Logan, Ohio, Alex Holtel (Kelly), Covington, Kentucky and Jaylynn Jordan (Steven), Nelsonville, Ohio; two brothers, Michael Shaw, and Patrick Shaw, Logan, Ohio; one sister, Nancy Ballinger, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild; six stepchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sandra Hall.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 12:30 P.M. from Parson Mortuary with Pastor Jim Lee officiating.  Cremation is to follow. 

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service.
