Charles Michael “Mike” Herschell, 62, of Muncie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. Born June 3, 1963, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Charles and Madelyn Herschell.


Charles graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1982. He was hard-working and dedicated, spending many years as an automotive painter and body repairman. Mike was passionate about his craft and known for his exceptional attention to detail. Above all, he was devoted to raising his three children and took great pride in his role as their father.


His hobbies helped define who he was—he loved his cars, enjoyed racing at the dragway, and found joy in listening to his favorite rock bands.


Charles is survived by his wife, Melissa Herschell; his daughter, Casey Herschell; his sons, Michael Herschell and Austin Herschell; and his granddaughter, Nova Herschell. He is also survived by his sister, Kimberly (Larry) Foster of Ohio; his brother, Scott Herschell; his aunt, Joanne (Larry) Broadwater of Attica, Indiana; his uncle, David Anderson of Indianapolis; as well as several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Madelyn Herschell; his brother, Steven Herschell; and his sister, Kathy Blizzard.


In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place. Charles will be remembered as a loving, hardworking father and a man devoted to his family and passions.
