Charles David Moore , Sr.

Muncie- Charles D. Moore, Sr., 86, passed away Friday morning, December 30, 2021, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  He was born on January 17, 1935 in Muncie, the son of William and Virgillia (Strouse) Moore.

Charles attended Muncie Community Schools and married Jewell (Reagan) Moore and she survives.  Mr. Moore had worked for Delco Remy as a machine operator for several years prior to his retirement.  He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.  He drove stock cars in the early 1960’s.  Charles really enjoyed the sport of racing.  In fact, he was one of the biggest fans for other family members who also raced.

Besides his wife of over 50 years, Jewell, he is survived by 2 sons, Bryan Moore (Teja)and Charles Moore, Jr., both of Muncie; 3 grandchildren, James B. Moore and Jacob Moore (Kelsey), both of Muncie and Amanda Green (Kris), Dunkirk; 2 great grandchildren, Karmen and Kennedy Green, Dunkirk; 2 sisters, Linda Templin, Muncie and Virginia Cross (Randall), Eaton; one brother-in-law, Richard Smith, Yorktown; several nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Ray Moore; his parents; 2 brothers (and spouses), William E. Moore (Mary) and Robert Moore (Lana); 4 Sisters (and spouses), Ethel Jones (Kenneth), Shirley Smith, Edna Gruewell (Dick) and Marilyn Piercy (Abe); one daughter-in-law, Shirley Moore.

Private family services are taking place with burial to follow at Tomlinson Cemetery.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.
