Shideler: Charles Otis Gerald Rench, Sr., 82, left this life on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on, July 5, 1942, in Muncie the son of Charles B. Rench & Ruby (Luellen) Brown.
Charles attended Royerton Schools and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he honorably served until 1960 and later married the love of his life, Linda (Smith) Rench on February 17, 1962, in Muncie at the Church of the Brethren, and she survives. Mr. Rench had worked as a carpenter for Hildebrand Pools for 25years years before his retirement in 2004. Charles was a member of the AMVETS Post #12, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and was considered to be a very social person. Mostly, he treasured being with his family whenever possible.
Besides his wife of 62 years, Linda, he is also survived by his son, Charles “Chuck” Rench, Jr., Shideler Michelle); two granddaughters, Cheyenne Reed (Larry), Selma and Ciarra Rench (Melissa Flores), Ashland City, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Kevin Smith, Muncie; Sister-in-law, Rhonda Pharis (Tim), Noblesville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynnette Rench in 1985 and his parents.
Cremation is being done with a private family gathering at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Parson Mortuary Cremation Center.
