Charles A. Smithers

Charles “Chuck” A. Smithers, 47, passed away Saturday October 2, 2021, in Indianapolis from injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred in Muncie on September 19, 2021.   He was born on May 23, 1974 in Muncie the son of Joanne (Smithers)Hawkins.

Charles attended Muncie Community Schools and later became disabled for most of his life.  He did become self employed doing odd jobs and buying used cars, fixing them up and eventually selling them.  He also enjoyed doing wood working.

Survivors include his mother, Joanne Hawkins, Summerdale, Alabama; three sisters, Charlotte (Char) Ice, Valarie Nichols and Kristy Lemasters (Patrick), all of West Virginia; three brothers Alan Hawkins, Jr. (Tara Quenner), Robertsdale, Alabama, Andrew Hawkins (Kathy), Canada and Charles Eldridge, Georgia.    

He was preceded in death by two step fathers, Paul M. Eldridge and Alan Hawkins.

The family has chosen cremation to take place and will have a family gathering at a later date.
