Charles “Bill” Davis, 85, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday morning September 4, 2021 at his residence.
Bill was born in Selma, IN on Friday August 21, 1936 to Charles and Alice Jane (McConnell) Davis. He graduated from Royerton High School in 1954 and shortly after was united in marriage to his young bride Linda (Hill) Davis on January 15, 1955. They celebrated 51 years together til her passing on September 7, 2006.
Bill was a Dedicated Provider for his family of 7 working till he was 69 years of age. He began his career as a truck driver at Hilgemeyer for 18 years then worked the last 33 years at Warner Supply in Muncie.
In his retirement he became the fulltime caregiver of his wife Linda until her passing. Bill was a very outgoing man who enjoyed multiple morning coffee stops on his way to work each day. He was a natural at being able to “shoot the breeze” with anyone.
A very skilled craftsman, Bill could fix or repurpose just about anything. He enjoyed helping foster these skills in his three sons, helping them any way he could. His family was important to him and he took pride in all that his children and grandchildren accomplished.
Surviving Bill are daughter Renda Davis, Desoto, Charles R.” Chuck” (Julie) Davis, Selma, Jacqueline S. Bell, Mooreland, Michael A. Davis Knightstown, Scott A. (Becky) Davis, Selma; 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Jason, April, Stephen, Joshua, Isaac, Kasey, Maria, Ethan; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marilyn (George) Harley, Royerton, Carolyn Gill, Pittsboro, sister-in-law, Carolyn Elliott, Muncie as well as longtime friends Dick and Betty Shreves, Desoto and Mike Shank, Warsaw.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Geneva Hill; brother-in-law Myron Gill, sister-in-law Evelyn Gibson and son-in-law Richard Bell.
He enjoyed being part of the body at The Garden of Gethsemane in recent years and most recently had been worshipping with High Street UMC.
The family will receive friends at Parson Mortuary and Cremation Center on Wednesday September 8, 2021 from 4-7 pm and Thursday September 9, 2021 from 12:00 pm until the start of the service.
The family would ask that Covid protocols be observed and masks be worn.
Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 pm Thursday with Pastor Dennis Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
