Clarence Albert Brooks, 81, of Muncie, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday March 25, 2025. Clarence was born in Eaton, Indiana in 1944 to Clarence A. and Bessie Brooks.
He graduated from Muncie Central High School and did autobody repair. He joined the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, graduating with class #25 from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1973. He had also worked with the Albany and Gaston Police departments as well as being a 911 dispatcher for many years.
Clarence also served as the Chief Deputy Coroner in Delaware County Indiana for eighteen years, under coroners Jim Clevenger and Scotty Hahn. Most recently, he worked with P.T.I. transporting people for the railroad. He enjoyed car shows, shooting, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Scott (Jennifer), grandson Patrick Meeks (Jessica), step-granddaughter Hannah Stookey (Andrew), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as other relatives too numerous to mention.
To honor his wishes, no services will be held. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
