Dana Riley Sr., 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, in Muncie, Indiana.  He was born, on May 13, 1947, in Hazard, Kentucky, to the late Junior Riley and Betty Riley.

Dana enlisted in the United States Army in 1964 and proudly served in Vietnam as a Tunnel Rat, earning the Bronze Star for heroism.  After returning from Vietnam, Dana moved his wife and young son to Indiana for work and never left.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 19, of Muncie.  Dana worked for and retired from Ontario Forge Corporation of Muncie.

He loved to “wheel and deal” as he called it.  Dana was always involved in selling or trading antiques and was always looking for a way to make a few dollars to support his family and his giving heart.  Dana raised and raced Greyhounds for many years, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Dana is survived by his loving daughter, Mary, and favorite son-in-law, Gary Vannatta, mother of his children and former wife of 50 years and best friend in life, Ruby Riley, grandchildren, Tyler Riley (Brittany), Trenton Riley, Keesha Riley, Travis Vannatta, Rebecka Vannatta, Isabella Riley-Vannatta, and Sophia Riley-Vannatta, a sister Alpha McIntosh, 3 great-grandchildren, Willow Riley, Ivy Riley, and Rylynn Routh, as well as other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Dana Riley Jr, and David JC Riley, brother, J.C. Riley, and sisters, Theresa Neace and Marie Fugate.

Services will be Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams, Muncie, Indiana.  Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. 

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Eaton, Indiana.
