Darla Lee Swafford, 73, passed away on June 13, 2025, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital.  Darla was born on March 18, 1952, in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of Donald and Linadine, (Madden) Kirts.

Following high school, Darla worked in housekeeping at local nursing homes.  She was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, WWE wrestling, and romance novels.  She enjoyed bargain hunting with her husband, Tommy, and would often bring home special treasures to give to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, just to see them smile.

Darla had a huge heart and a love for people.  She was a caretaker and a friend to many people.  She had a strong love for her family and her pets.  She will be missed by many people who have crossed her path.  Darla was kind-hearted, a woman who never met a stranger.  She will be missed unconditionally by her husband, Tommy.

Darla is survived by her husband of over fifty years, Tommy; her children, John Swafford (Kindra), Sandra Baird (DeWayne), James Swafford, Donald Swafford, and her very special friend, Ashley Grove.  In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Shane Jr., Marissa, JT, Jacklynn, Kalynn, Makinzi, Brayden, Ryleigh, Tyler (Neysa), Hailey (Crystal), Madalyn, and Keegan; multiple great-grandchildren; and her fur child (dog), Eddie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Shane Swafford, step-son, Duane Swafford, a brother, Dennis Kirts, as well as several other siblings and brothers and sisters in-law.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana.
