Denise Lee Espinosa-Bergdoll, 66, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025. Born on May 15, 1959, in Muncie to Henry Espinosa and Darla (Smiley) Hickman, Denise lived a vibrant and wholehearted life rooted in love, faith, and family.
Denise had a deep love for animals, especially horses, and an affection for flowers. Her favorite music was rock ‘n’ roll, and she never turned down a good plate of Mexican food. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, proud beyond words of her daughters and adoring of her grandchildren. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and those who knew her often said her walk with God was a living testimony.
Denise was not one to blend into the background. She was unapologetically herself—outspoken, bold, and full of life. A true firecracker, she was, in every sense, one of a kind.
She is survived by her loving children, Desiree Garrett (Javin) and Charlene Vance (Joshua); her cherished grandchildren, Victor Garrett, Luke Garrett, and Jonah Vance; her sister, Diana Espinosa; her nephew, Richard Williams; and her beloved dog Ezekeial and cat Mayhem.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Bergdoll; her sister, Cynthia; and her grandmother, Dorothy Skinner.
A memorial service to celebrate Denise’s life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Parson Mortuary in Muncie. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Pastor Jerry Blevins will officiate.
