Dorothy Elulah Habben, 90, passed away at IU Ball Memorial Hospital on July 3, 2025, in Muncie, Indiana. Dorothy was born on June 10, 1935, the daughter of Erskine and Scyleesa (Lucas) Holt, in Muncie, Indiana.
Dorothy attended Muncie Central High School and went on to become a homemaker, wife and mother. She had four children, all whom she deeply loved. Dorothy was known for her love of people, especially children. She did not hesitate to join in and play with children, even in her later years at Waters Edge Village nursing home, she gravitated towards children who were visiting.
Dorothy loved to socialize, play guitar, sing with her sisters in church, and was even in a band at one time. She enjoyed playing games, cards, and regularly attended the bingo sessions at Waters Edge.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Julie Berry (Russ Brinegar), James Davenport (Connie), and Dale Davenport (Melissa). In addition, she leaves behind eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest Habben, a daughter Ernestine Habben, sisters, Jeannette Conn (Cleve), Kathryn Satterfield (Ed), Fannie Hanson (Richard), Clara Busby (Rayford), Emmaball Holt, and Martha Sue Tomlinson (Omer), and a brother, Frederick Holt (Mary Jane) and her first husband, David Davenport.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 11, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana. Visitation will be from 1030 AM to 1230 PM. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery.
