Earnest Ray Smith Obituary

Ernest Ray Smith, 94, left for his heavenly home early Monday morning, January 22, 2024, at the Signature Health Care Center following a brief illness.  He was born on July 23, 1929, in Muncie the son of David and Lizzie (Thomas) Smith.


Earnest had attended Muncie Community Schools and later became a “Handy Man “and could be found doing odd jobs for people.   To say he was a clock enthusiast is an understatement!  He enjoyed working on them and figuring out what made them tick!


He is survived by two special nieces, Barbara Evans (Harold) Springport and Doris Thomas, Muncie; three special nephews, Marion Shockley, Muncie, Michael Shockley, Parker City, and Patrick Shockley (Betty), Muncie; several other nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.


His parents preceded him and eleven siblings.


Private family burial will take place at Beech Grove Cemetery.  Parson Mortuary is entrusted with these arrangements.


Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) 1209 W. Riggin Rd. Muncie, IN 47303.
