Elizabeth A. Bian, 87, went to her heavenly home Tuesday afternoon November 7, 2023, at the Woodlands Health Care Center in Muncie, Indiana. “Betty Ann” is the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Watson) Froude. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 19, 1936
Betty Ann graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson High School in Jersey City in 1954. In May 1955, she married Thomas Barrett, who preceded her in death in 1969. In November 1975, she married John Bian, who preceded her in death in 1991.
Betty Ann attended Princeton University where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1972. She started her career at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey, and worked for many years in Senior health care in the Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Indianapolis areas. After she retired from Greenwood Health Care near Indianapolis, she volunteered as a companion to seniors. She was also a very active member of St. Marks Catholic Church in Indianapolis where she volunteered extensively. Betty Ann enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and crocheting. She spent much of her free time making things for loved ones. She also enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and do-it-yourself projects. She improved the aesthetics of every place she lived. Betty Ann treasured nature and spending quality time with her family. She created a tradition of family reunions at the Jersey Shore and traveled extensively, often with or to visit family members.
She has three surviving daughters: Elizabeth (“Liz”) Leslie, Nancy Barrett Elbe, and Janet Jeremiah McArthur; three step-children: John Bian Jr., Barry Bian (Lyn), and Debbie Bian Elam; five grandchildren: Jessa Jeremiah (Tony), Thomas Buschman, Rachel Thibault (Brian), Devin Leslie (Jadelynn), and Jenna McArthur; four great-grandchildren: Primlee, Paislee, Henry and Charlie; her brother’s children: Connie Ware (David), Bill Froude (Julie) and Ray Froude (Erika); her lifelong best friend and cousin-in-law Margie Boyle, and Margie’s children Sean Boyle and Kerry Ann Tolson (John). She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, and her brother, William Froude.
Betty Ann is being cremated according to her wishes by Parson Mortuary Cremation Services. A celebration of life is being planned by her daughters and will be held at a later date in South Carolina.
