Eva Mae (Pence) (Rhoades) Craig Obituary

Eva Mae (Rhoades) Craig, 95, passed away on April 16, 2025, at Parker Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on February 7, 1930, the daughter of Clarence and Valesta Green, in Springfield, Missouri, and later adopted by William and Lela (Green) Pence.


Eva graduated from Muncie Central high school and went on to own and operate E&E Potpourri and the Button Hole Bar in Muncie.  She also managed the Pizza King that was on Madison Street and was their first waitress.


Eva had a passion for playing cards, especially Euchre, bingo, rummage sales, and playing penny slot machines.  She was also a frequent volunteer at local food banks.  She spent her winter months in Ft. Myers, Florida, where she had made several friends.  Some of her biggest joys in life were her children and grandchildren.  She never hesitated to tell anyone how proud she was of her kids.


Eva is survived by a daughter, Vickie Stafford (Bill), sons, Robby Rhoades (Mary), Joe Rhoades (Sarah), and Doug Rhoades (Danielle), daughter in-law, Gail Rhoades, siblings Helen Foster, and Wilbur Green.  In addition she is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer, Matt, William, Rose, Robby, Victor, Chad, Lindsey, Aaron, Justin, Jordon, Nelson, Megan, Douglas, Chris, and Cooper; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Katy, Cole, Matilyn, Wilsen, Bill, Hallie, Hunter, Mia, Hugo, Victoria, Theo, Will, Madison, Victor, Lexi, Alex, Angelina, Cheyenne, Destin, Devon, Adrea, Matthew, Ashley, Jack, Chase and Carter, and two great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands William V. Rhoades (1971) and Jack Craig (2000), two sons, Terry and John Rhoades, one sister, Rowena Evans, grandchild Chris, and great-grandchild, Nick.


Funeral services will be Wednesday April 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie.  Visitation will be Tuesday April 22, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the mortuary and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on the day of the service.  Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie.


In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Muncie Delaware County Senior Center, 2517 W. 8th, Muncie, Indiana 47302
