Frances Patricia Asbury Wood, 87,

Frances (Pat) Wood passed away on Wednesday evening, October 6, 2021, peacefully at her home with her daughter.

She was born on February 15, 1934 in Richmond, the daughter of Ralph Augustus Asbury and Viola Gladys (Simmons) Asbury- Roush.  She graduated from Royerton High School in 1952 and later married Willis (Bill) Wood in Muncie on August 26, 1953.   They were happily married for 62 years before his death in 2017.

Our mother was always busy, raising children, volunteering at church, school and eventually going back to work.

She spent over 20 years with the Muncie License Branch, where she was well known and admired.

Mom led by example.  There was never a job too large or too small that she would not tackle.  She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman.  We will miss her every day.

She was wonderfully devoted to her 3 daughters- Kathy Jo, Kimberly Sue and Kelly Ann and was a loving grandmother to her 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Pat was devoted to animals, particularly those without homes.  Memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s name at your local animal shelter or SPCA.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.  No services are being arranged.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.
