Freida Mae Sterling, 88, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, at Waters Edge Village in Muncie. She was born on September 16, 1936, in Muncie, to Walter and Onita (Keys) Brown.

Freida’s life was marked by her love of crafting, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her talent in crocheting, often creating dish towels, scrubbers, and beautiful quilts. A true Bearcat fan, Freida was passionate about sports and had a gift for making the best taco salad and peanut brittle. She enjoyed the thrill of bingo and pull tabs, and her volunteer work with the Blind Association reflected her generous spirit.

Freida was deeply involved in her community and loved helping to organize events at the Eagles, Moose Lodge, and the Legion. Her creativity and flair for setting up for these gatherings made her a cherished presence in these spaces. Above all, Freida adored dancing and being with her family, and her warmth and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children: Jerry Sterling (Elizabeth Jones) and Toyce Johnson (Jason); her grandchildren: Darke Green, Dakota Green, Josiah Johnson (Shayla), and Janson Clifton (Dallas); and her great-grandchildren: Parker, Palmer, Evan, Mikayla, and Mayson.

Freida was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Robert C. Sterling, and four siblings.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Parson Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the service following at 4:00 p.m.
