Gary Eugene Rodeffer, Sr., age 81, transitioned to heaven on August 5, 2025. He received Jesus as Savior shortly before leaving, so we rejoice that we will see him again. He was born July 26, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Nutter) Rodeffer. Gary attended Jefferson Elementary, McKinley Junior High, and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1962.

Gary worked for Delco Battery in Muncie and retired after 30 years. He met his goal of being retired for as many years as he worked there. Gary was an avid fisherman, musician, and lifelong member of the YMCA. He played guitar and sang in The Fugitives Band during the 60s and Band on the Run during the 80s. He continued to sing and play his guitar all his days.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rebecca (Reeves) Rodeffer, and daughter Sherry Holtzclaw (Brian), son, U.S. Army Command Sargent Major, Retired, Gary Rodeffer Jr (Jennifer), grandchildren: Gary Rodeffer III, Emilee Bryan (Jessy), Brian Holtzclaw Jr (Sarah), Elisabeth Rodeffer (David Fillmore), Yanel Rodeffer, great grandchildren Carmen Rodeffer and Sophia Bryan, twin sisters Karen Shingleton (Guinn), Sharon New, 3 nephews, 1 niece, and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Martha Jones, and brother-in-law Michael New.

Services will be held at Parsons Mortuary on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 12:30 PM.  Friends may call on the family from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories, north of Muncie.  Pastor John Helton will officiate.
