Glen Ray Cunningham, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 12, 2026, after a short illness.
Glen was born May 18, 1940, to Chalmer and Mary (Russell) Cunningham. He was the younger brother of his twin sister, Glenda. He had two older siblings, Juva and George, also twins, and one younger sister, Joyce. In 1958 he married Jean Ann Howard. Glen and Jeanne were proud parents of three boys. Family meant everything to Glen. He cherished his role as father, uncle, and especially as “Pa.” And his family cherished him.
Glen graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1958. He worked with his father building custom homes. In his mid 20s Glen began a 35+ year career at Westinghouse/ABB, beginning as a carpenter and retiring as purchasing agent.
Glen pursued many interests in life. He loved aviation, earning his private pilot’s license and flying his Piper Tri-Pacer. The ultimate DIY-er, Glen could fix anything from home repair to mechanical equipment. His motto: “If someone built it, someone can take it apart and fix it.” A self-taught mechanic, Glen restored cars with his sons and was particularly proud of his restored 1972 Opel GT. An avid bowler, Glen achieved a high score of 299. He played softball on various church leagues and Westinghouse’s team. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He had great affection for the multitude of abandoned cats that found their way to him. In the early 1970s he was a Boy Scouts leader. He enthusiastically supported all his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. A voracious reader, Glen devoured Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy novels. In his later years, he excelled at cooking, learning from cooking shows and online tutorials.
Glen was preceded in death by parents Chalmer and Mary Cunningham, brother George “Buck” Cunningham, nephew Matt Levy, great-nephew Cody Morgan, daughter-in-law Brenda Cunningham, and his beloved wife of 64 years, Jeanne. He is survived by sisters Glenda See, Juva “Judy” Baker, Joyce (Jim) Levy; sons Jeff Cunningham, John (Ann) Cunningham, and Steve (Melissa) Cunningham; grandchildren Danielle (John) Gianerinni, Natalie (Cory Harshman) Cunningham, Robert Glen “Bobby” (Breanna) Cunningham, Morgan (Tyler) Cunningham-Hull, JaMarc Neely, Alex (Alexa) Moore, and William (Shawn Clark) Moore; great-grandchildren Kathryn Neely, Raistlin Neely, Bexon Creel, Margot Moore, and Mila Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
