Guy Martin Burnett of Muncie, Indiana, went peacefully to be with the Lord on August 7, 2025. Guy was born in Monticello, Kentucky, on December 7, 1929.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Guy was committed to creating a life filled with greater opportunities for his family. He courageously seized the chance to move 300 miles north to Muncie, Indiana, where he held jobs at a foundry, a railroad company, a cemetery, and at Chevrolet. He finally landed a long-term position with Fisher Body in Marion, Indiana. Despite having only an eighth-grade education, Guy pursued night classes in calculus and trigonometry, ultimately becoming a tool and diemaker—a skilled trade that drew on his natural talent for mathematics and his passion for precision.

Guy enjoyed traveling, gardening, and serving his church. In the early 1960s, he and his wife, Lois, were among the founding members of Bethel United Baptist Church, which he helped build with his own hands. For decades, he faithfully served his church as clerk, treasurer, and deacon, and held the position of clerk for the South Concord Association of United Baptist Churches. Guy was a member of the Freemasons for more than 50 years.

Guy is survived by his children, Brenda Griffey, Muncie, IN, Perry (Kim) Burnett, Villa Hills, KY, Anita Walker (Eric), Noblesville, IN, five grandsons, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces,  nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Burnett, his parents, Matthew and Stella Burnett, his sisters, Jewell Burnett, Mary Hurt Robbins, Irene Simpson, Betty Fairchild, and his brother, Curtis Burnett.

Calling hours will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 PM on August 15, 2025, at Parsons Mortuary, 801 W. Adams St, Muncie, IN. Interment will take place at Gardens of Memory, Muncie, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
