Harry L. “Poppy” Potts, 79, went home to be with his Lord early Wednesday morning, September 29, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on March 29, 1942 in Muncie the son of Ralph F. and Pearl B. (Bingham) Potts.
Harry graduated from Cowan High School in 1960 and later graduated from Ball State University in metallurgy. He had married the love of his life Kathleen B. (Cooper) Potts in 1971, in Jamestown, Tennessee and she preceded in death on June 1, 2016. Mr. Potts worked for Chevrolet as a Metallurgist. He was a member of the Burlington Dr. Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He enjoyed gardening, model trains, mushroom hunting and decorating inside and out for Christmas. Harry was known to be a Bible scholar.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Hodge (Rex), Maggy Valley, North Carolina and Judi Potts, Muncie; two sons, Tracy J. Haffner (Creola), Muncie and William J. Potts, New Castle; special granddaughter, Tiffani Jones Brown (Matt), San Francisco, California; Ten grandchildren; Seventeen Great Grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Satterfield (Jerry), Mishawaka; one sister-in-law, Mary Potts, Michigan; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife of 45 years, Kathleen B. (Cooper) Potts, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenny and Frankie Potts.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6,2021, 3:00 P.M. at Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Miller and James O. McCowan officiating. Burial will follow at the Coopertown Cemetery in Jamestown, Tennessee.
Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Sunday October 3, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
Once in Jamestown friends may call at Jennings Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 1:00P.M until time of service at 3:00 P.M.
