Harvey Eugene Smith Obituary

Harvey Eugene Smith left this life on February 14th surrounded by his loving family to live in a land he had heard of with no goodbyes called Heaven.  He was born on July 28, 1956, in Muncie, Indiana to the late Harvey L. Smith and Cora Wilson-Waters.  Harvey worked as a manager at Ross Supermarket until its closing, Burlington Trucking Company, and retired from Community Health Network.  The job Harvey felt was most important was serving his Lord and Savior.   46 years of his life were spent traveling and singing with The Cross Carrier's southern gospel singing group.  In his spare time, he enjoyed always finding the best deals, shopping, cooking, and looking for the best donuts.  He cares deeply for those around him always available to give advice and safety rules for traveling.  He was most happy when he was with his family and his extended church family.  What a journey this journey has been!

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Simon Waters, best friend and soulmate Trula Waters Smith, and stepbrother Wilburn Waters; three brothers-in-law, James Winningham , Tommy Waters, and Goldman Delon Waters; five ½ siblings, Rosuer, Wallace, Walbert, Gladys and Beatrice.

Harvey is survived by two daughters that he adored, Jacinna “Jay” (husband-Monty) Salyers of Alexandria and Sarah (husband-Robert) Goolsby of Daleville.  Four grandchildren, Cameron Campbell, Paige Collins, Ronise Goolsby, and Elias Harvey Goolsby, and one great-granddaughter Mazilynn Collins.

He is also survived by sister Mary Lou Spradlin and her husband, Carl of Muncie, stepbrother William Waters of Anderson, three brothers-in-law, Robert (Wife-June) Waters of Muncie, DeWayne (wife-Julie) Waters of Selma, and Larry (wife-Dedra) Waters of Yorktown; five sisters-in-law, Phyllis Winningham of Daleville, Janice (husband-William) Thornbro of Muncie, and Irene (husband-Terry) Legg of Peru, and Nila Waters, Gaston, Geneva Waters, Muncie; many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.  Special adopted children, Amanda Coffey-Gray, Elizabeth Carroll, and Jeffrey Newton; and his precious princess Maggie (his pet dachshund).
